  ASPHALT PATCHING:

  All asphalt patches will be saw-cut square or rectangular; base will be checked and
  repaired as needed.  A minimum of 2.5 inches of 7f armor coat asphalt will be applied and
  compacted with a 3-5 ton vibratory roller.  All edges will be hand tampered and tack
  coated.

  PROTECTS THE BASE / SUBBASE:

  Maintaining your asphalt, by removing damaged areas will help to increase the life of your
  asphalt. When damaged asphalt is left untouched, it leaves your base vulnerable to the
  elements. When water reaches your dense stone base, the water will loosen the stone,
  therefore allowing the asphalt to sink, settle, and come apart. Without a solid, dense
  stone base, your flexible asphalt surface will fail.
